Saturday, January 23rd and I’m being asked to move my car off Center St. The police are cordoning off this main street on Folly Beach from the top of Ashley down to Hudson because tables for a variety of restaurants and food are being set up. The side streets off Center too have sawhorses in place; it’s just safer that way when the crowds thicken and the beer starts flowing. Though it is overcast and windy the people dwindling in look game and as the afternoon drifts by the crowd picks up and groups join one another to drink, eat and listen to music. All in all a Folly kind of day.
